Apple Halts AppleCare in Italy and 1 Tech Titans on the Move

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL): According to a spokesman, Apple Inc. has ceased selling Apple Care, a customer protection plan, that caused concerns with Italy’s antitrust authority. Italy’s competition guardian had threatened the United States colossus with a fine and even temporary closure of their Italian operations if they did not make it clear to customers that they were entitled to a free two-year warranty on their products in accordance with the European Union law.

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has begun to connect United States homes in Kansas City to extremely fast broadband — they have been offering residents speeds of up to 1Gbps (gigabit per second). People living in the area of Hanover Heights are among the first to use the service and they are reporting speeds of about 700Mbps (megabits per second). The product poses a challenge to established cable companies which typically charge more money with slower connections.
