Analysts Mixed on Groupon, Home Depot Sees Turnaround, Saks Above $10

Groupon Inc (NASDAQ:GRPN): Benchmark Co. reports that Groupon Q1 results turned out to top expectations. Benchmark reduced its price target to shares from $28 to $20, but holds to a Buy rating for the stock. Barclays gives Groupon an Overweight, with a price target of $27. Groupon shares are trading 11.8% higher today.

Dicks Sporting Goods Inc (NYSE:DKS) has announced Q1 EPS 45c versus consensus 28c, and Q1 revenue of $1.3B versus consensus $1.23B. The sporting goods retailer anticipates opening 38-40 stores this year, with half of those in new markets. The company sees Q2 EPS 62c-63c versus consensus 63c and Q2 gross profit margin modestly increasing. Shares are trading 7.79% higher today.

The Home Depot, Inc. (NYSE:HD): Seeing “some positive signs” in the housing market is encouraging to Home Depot, but does not relieve its pressure, the company reports. It says pricing is stabilizing but not solid, and continues to worry about shadow inventory as well as still-constrained credit availability. Home Depot reports that “pro business” appears to be growing sequentially within different classes of consumers, with bigger pro customers growing quicker, hinting at a thawing process that will reach the rest of the pro base eventually. Shares of the company are trading 1.12% lower today.

Saks Inc (NYSE:SKS): Comparable store stock levels are presumed to be in the mid-single digit range through the rest of the year for Saks. Based on present inventory numbers and make-up and Saks’ promotional plans and permanent markdown cadence, the company plans that its year-over-year gross margin rate will lower around 100 to 125 basis points in the second quarter, and to rise around 25 to 50 basis points in the latter half of the fiscal year. Saks has an effective tax rate of around 40.0-41.0% for the year. Shares are trading 0.20% higher today.

Photronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLAB) announced Q2 EPS 14c versus consensus 12c, and Q2 revenue $117.5M versus consensus $116.82M. Shares of the company are trading 1.03% higher today.
