Analyst: iPhone 5 Fandom Lives On

Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 5 has continued to be the top-seller at AT&T (NYSE:T), Verizon (NYSE:VZ), and Sprint (NYSE:S) outlets, according to checks by R.W. Baird analyst William Power, though Samsung’s Galaxy S III was not far behind and the new Galaxy Note II was also selling well.

At AT&T, the iPhone 5 was “cited as the most popular among recent purchasers,” Power wrote in a note to investors, Barron’s said. Nokia’s (NYSE:NOK) Lumia 920, operating on Microsoft’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows Phone software, was in fourth place after the S III and Note II, the latter of which is a combination of a phone and a tablet.

At Verizon, the iPhone 5 and the S III were almost equally popular, and were followed by Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Motorola’s Droid Razr Maxx. At Verizon, sales representatives emphasize Android more heavily than those at AT&T, Baird noted.

At Sprint, meanwhile, the Note II “also received modest praise, though reps were quick to point out that a 5.5” device was not for everyone.” Samsung’s Note II and S III dominated at T-Mobile, which is scheduled to start offering Apple products only next year.
