The midnight Oct 7 deadline for the conclusion of negotiations between Dish Network (NASDAQ:DISH) and Gannett (NYSE:GCI) has been put off by several hours. If talks break down transmissions by many ABC, CBS and NBC affiliated stations owned by Gannet would be blacked out for Dish customers. Dish is offering a 200 percent hike in broadcast fees whereas Gannett is holding out for 300 percent.

American Express (NYSE:AXP) and Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) have teamed up to offer Bluebird, a new product aimed at lower-income shoppers with limited access to credit, and which is an alternative to debit and checking accounts. ”In an era where it is increasingly ‘expensive to be poor,’ we have worked with Walmart to create a financial services product that rights many of the wrongs that plague the market today,” says Dan Schulman of Amex.
