Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) ties up with Epix, the pay TV service owned by Viacom, Lionsgate and MGM, to access a huge library of new movies and TV series for its Prime Instant Video service, and thereby almost double its offering of available titles.

Retailers such as Target (NYSE:TGT), Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) and  Sears Holdings (NASDAQ:SHLD) are hoping to lure early holiday shoppers with a slew of new layaway plans, with the last-named even offering vacation packages on layaway on its travel site.
