AT&T, Inc. (NYSE:T): Rhapsody moved toward the expansion of its carrier billing support, as it announced a joint billing agreement with AT&T. This agreement will let Rhapsody subscribers pay for the subscription service via their wireless bills, and follows a similar agreement the company already has in place with Verizon, supporting its carrier billing support for more than half of mobile users in the U.S.
Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S) has made a move to acquire the remainder of Clearwire may face serious implications in regards to the the wireless industry’s future, and the carrier has continued a struggle to continue to be relevant in a wireless industry that keeps being dominated by maily Verizon and AT&T. Sprint has continued to significantly fall behind the two rivals. However, Clearwire’s huge spectrum hoard and Softbank’s backing could possibly cause Sprint to be a powerful competitor as spectrum resources became scarcer, high-speed 4G LTE was a widespread standard and subscribers get hungrier for data.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) added 29 new LTE markets to its service, and today, the company announced that Selma, Alabama, and Port Angeles, Washington, are some of the many markets that are in the process of gaining access to its LTE service today. Now that these cities have been added, Verizon is offering its LTE service in 470 markets spanning the U.S. Today, the company stated that it has begun to expand its LTE availability in 36 existing markets, as it brought its complete coverage to over 250 million people. This statement comes only a few days after AT&T claimed that it brought its LTE network to five cities, which makes its total 125 cities.
Vodafone Group plc (NASDAQ:VOD): In the U.K., Vodafone Group (NASDAQ:VOD) and Telefonica SA (NYSE:TEF) are two of seven bidders in the U.K in an auction for frequencies that would provide them with faster mobile-phone services, according to Bloomberg.
Alcatel-Lucent, S.A. (NYSE:ALU)announced its Global Reseller Agreement with Radio IP Software, which develops advanced Mobile Virtual Private Network solutions to distribute its family of advanced mobile VPN solutions to government agencies, utilitiy companies, and enterprises worldwide. The agreement requires for Alcatel-Lucent to resell Radio IP’s network-agnostic and device agnostic mobile VPN solutions, from ordering and provisioning, to installation, support, and training.
