Pandora Media Inc (NYSE:P): William Blair believes the deal between Clear Channel and private music label Big Machine could set a precedent for potentially lower per song royalty rates paid for content by digital radio companies such as Pandora (NYSE:P). While terms of Clear Channel’s deal yesterday were not disclosed, William Blair believes the percentage-of-revenue rate that the company agreed to pay is likely well below the 50% of revenue Pandora paid for content in FY12. The firm says it now has greater confidence that the rate structure Pandora will pay for music when its rates reset in 2015 will likely be a better outcome than investors perceive. William Blair keeps an Outperform rating on Pandora shares.

NewLink Genetics Corp (NASDAQ:NLNK): Cantor increased its target on NewLink as the firm believes that Phase II data generated by HyperAcute Pancreas lowers the risk of the company’s Phase III trial. The firm thinks the Phase II data was “great,” and maintains a Buy rating on the stock.

VMware, Inc. (NYSE:VMW): Oppenheimer sees several near-term catalysts for VMware that should enable the company to generate additional growth in FY12. The firm reiterates a $125 target and Outperform rating.
