ABF CONSIDERS Refiling Case and 4 Stocks Falling to 52-Week Lows

Arkansas Best Corporation (NASDAQ:ABFS): ABF Freight System’s lawsuit against the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and other parties for alleged violations of the National Master Freight Agreement was dismissed by a district court. The company is both disappointed by and disagrees with the ruling and is currently studying and is evaluating options regarding the decision. These include taking a second appeal to the Eighth Circuit or refiling the case in the same court. Shares closed down 10.41 percent on the day at $9.98, and have traded in a 52-week range of $10.38 to $23.70.

Asia Entertainment & Resources Ltd (NASDAQ:AERL) posts a July rolling chip turnover of $1.31 billion. Shares closed down 9.56 percent on the day at $2.65, having been traded in a 52-week range of $2.80 to $10.07.

Apollo Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:APOL) has passed a Federal review of the policies and procedures that it uses to administer Federal aid at the University of Phoenix, which identified no problems, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education. News of the results was disclosed by Apollo in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. Share closed down 2.22 percent on the day at $26.04, and have traded in a 52-week range of $26.28 to $58.29.

Aveo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVEO) expects that the amount of capital posted is sufficient to fund its operations into the second half of next year based on its current operating plans. Shares closed down 26.69 percent on the day at $9.75, having been traded in a 52-week range of $10.40 to $17.70.

Checkpoint Systems Inc. (NYSE:CKP) expects 2013 gross margins up by 300 basis points, but its 2013 operating expenses down by 10 percent. Shares closed down 8.23 percent on the day at $6.69, but have traded in a 52-week range of $7.12 to $15.77.
