On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (NYSEARCA:DIA) posted its worst day of 2012.  The index was led lower by Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA), Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) and Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ).  All three companies managed to edge slightly higher in extended trading.

After closing nearly 18 percent higher on Friday, shares of LinkedIn Corp. (NYSE:LNKD) edged higher in late market trading.  The professional social network company reported net income of $6.9 million (6 cents per share) for the fourth quarter.

Late Friday, Xbox World magazine claims Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s next Xbox will feature controllers with high definition touch-screens.  The next Kinect system will also be able to track finger movements.  Shares of the company gained .24 percent in late trading.

Shares of Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) gained .14 percent in late trading after a Russian newspaper claims that Netflix and Hulu (NASDAQ:CMCSA) (NYSE:DIS) are considering expanding their streaming services in Russia.

Arch Coal Inc. (NYSE:ACI) shares continued their decline in late trading after closing 7.6 percent lower on Friday.  The company announced that revenues in the fourth quarter came in at $1.23 billion, falling short of the average estimate of $1.3 billion.  Shares of Peabody Energy Corp. (NYSE:BTU) and Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE:ANR) also declined.
