6 NBA Stars and Their Guilty (Food) Pleasures
Despite making millions of dollars each year and having the resources to hire a bevy of individuals equipped to keep them in the best of shape, National Basketball Association athletes are, at the end of the day, like all of us: They have vices. While some guilty pleasures are admittedly harder to stomach than others, here are some of the more sweet — and savory — indulgences that remain in the stars’ diets.
1. Derek Fisher, Oklahoma City Thunder
At 39, point guard Derek Fisher has been in the NBA for more than 17 years, no small feat in a league where the average is 4.8. Known for his calm demeanor and reputation as a dependable player, it might surprise some to learn that Fisher’s favorite food is a little wilder: “I’ve talked about, and I do talk about, my health and my fitness and how important it is to eat certain things and have a balanced diet and all that stuff,” he said, “but there are certain things from your childhood or your experiences growing up that just take you to a place of comfort.
“So for me, a good ol’ bowl of, like, Frosted Flakes or some Honey Nut Cheerios, or if I’m feeling really bad, maybe some Cinnamon Toast Crunch or something like that. You just feel like a kid again for five or six minutes.”
