Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA) reported its results for the second quarter. Alcoa is a global producer of aluminum. Reported a loss of $2 million (0 cents per diluted share) in the quarter. Alcoa Inc. had a net income of $322 million or 28 cents per share in the year-earlier quarter. Revenue fell 8.8% to $6.01 billion from the year-earlier quarter. Alcoa Inc. reported adjusted net income of 6 cents per share. By that measure, the company fell in line with the mean estimate of 6 cents per share. It beat the average revenue estimate of $5.81 billion.

Helen of Troy Limited (NASDAQ:HELE) reported its results for the first quarter. Net income for Helen of Troy Limited fell to $23.5 million (74 cents per share) vs. $24.6 million (78 cents per share) a year earlier. This is a decline of 4.6% from the year-earlier quarter. Revenue rose 10.6% to $300.2 million from the year-earlier quarter. Helen of Troy Limited fell short of the mean analyst estimate of 88 cents per share. Analysts were expecting revenue of $299.1 million.

ADTRAN Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN) reported its results for the second quarter. Net income for ADTRAN Inc. fell to $21.1 million (33 cents per share) vs. $36.9 million (56 cents per share) a year earlier. This is a decline of 43% from the year-earlier quarter. Revenue fell 0.1% to $184 million from the year-earlier quarter. ADTRAN Inc. reported adjusted net income of 38 cents per share. By that measure, the company beat the mean estimate of 35 cents per share. It fell short of the average revenue estimate of $190.2 million.

Fastenal Company (NASDAQ:FAST) reported its results for the second quarter. Net income for Fastenal Company rose to $112.3 million (38 cents per share) vs. $94.1 million (32 cents per share) in the same quarter a year earlier. This marks a rise of 19.3% from the year-earlier quarter. Revenue rose 14.7% to $804.9 million from the year-earlier quarter. Fastenal Company beat the mean analyst estimate of 37 cents per share. Analysts were expecting revenue of $807.6 million.
