Will PPG’s Acquisition From AkzoNobel Attract These Top Institutional Shareholders?

PPG Industries Inc. (NYSE:PPG) will be acquiring the North American decorative paints business from the Dutch company AkzoNobel, the world’s largest paint maker, for $1.1 billion. Known for their Glidden paint brand, the business turned profitable only recently in the context of an improving the United States housing market. AkzoNobel will receive about $875 million on the deal and this will be used to help repay a debt and to finance growth priorities in other areas such as China, Latin America and the Middle East.
