News Corp. (NASDAQ:NWSA) and their Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Rupert Murdoch, have the Tribune Co. and other newspapers on their radar. A new $1.1 billion term loan and a $300 million revolving credit line helped the Tribune Co. to emerge from bankruptcy proceedings. “Tribune emerges from the bankruptcy process as a multi-media company with a great mix of profitable assets, strong brands in major markets and a much-improved capital structure,” Chief Executive Officer Eddy Hartenstein said in a statement. Reportedly, the Tribune’s owners are mulling over a sale of at least some of their newspapers. The paper was forced into bankruptcy after an abortive leveraged buyout by real estate billionaire Sam Zell.

Will News Corp.’s shareholders increase their holdings? They reported owning a total of 1.421 billion shares on 09/30/2012. The shares closed at $24.51 on 09/30/2012.
