‘Star Wars Rebels’ Gets an Extended Trailer
Disney has released an extended trailer (seen above) of its upcoming animated Star Wars series, Star Wars Rebels. Featuring the voices of Freddie Prinze Jr., Taylor Gray, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Vanessa Marshall, Jason Isaacs, David Oyelowo, and Billy Dee Williams, the animated series will premiere in Disney XD in October.
With an animation style that will familiar to fans of the now-concluded animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but also adds its own distinctive style, Star Wars Rebels will fill in the gap between Star Wars Episode III and Star Wars Episode IV much the same way Clone Wars did with the time period between Episode II and Episode III. The official synopsis of the series is as follows:
Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.
The new trailer features additional looks at the series’ promising action sequences along with a look at the primary villain of the series, the Inquisitor — a character tasked with hunting down Jedis by Darth Vader. The series also seems to have echoes of both Episode I and Episode IV in that the young Ezra Bridger is swept up in an epic adventure where he is found to be strong with the force.
