Tatiana Maslany, Orphan Black

The 66th Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced on July 10. While dozens of small screen actors and actresses had reason to celebrate, there were more than a few left out in the cold. Of course, not everybody could be nominated. But that doesn’t mean there are several performances that were unfairly snubbed by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Here are four actors that more than earned a chance to be recognized — even if they didn’t make the cut this year.

1. Tatiana Maslany, Orphan Black (BBC America)

If you Googled “Emmy nominations” some time in the last 24 hours, chances are you came across at least one headline decrying this talented young actress’ omission from the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series category — and with good reason. Maslany portrays nine different characters on Orphan Black, and she imbues each and every one with vibrant life. She’s been nominated for a Golden Globe award, and recently won the Critics’ Choice trophy for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series. That accolade may help take the sting out of the obvious Emmy snub, but it doesn’t change the fact that she was wrongly overlooked.
