Denver Begins Collecting Sales Tax on Medical Marijuana

show_119_1Now that lawmakers are quickly realizing the opportunity cost of keeping medical marijuana illegal, the fever to collect taxes on marijuana sales has spread to Denver, Colorado.

Today the municipality started doing what it’s done with alcohol since prohibition ended: making money. As more cities watch cash flow into coffers from sales taxes and other business fees, the Invisible Hand will continue working its magic.
