Analyst Ratings: Analysts seem relatively indifferent about Limelight Networks with eight of 11 analysts surveyed maintaining a hold rating.

A Look Back: In the third quarter, the company swung to a profit of $5 million (4 cents a share) from a loss of $6 million (6 cents) a year earlier, beating analyst estimates. Revenue fell 15% to $42.4 million from $49.8 million.

A year-over-year revenue decrease in the third quarter snapped a streak of three consecutive quarters of revenue increases. Revenue rose 19.8%in the second quarter, 38% in the first quarter and 64.3% in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year.

Limelight Networks’ profit last quarter followed losses in the three previous quarters. The company reported a loss of $13.9 million in the second quarter, a loss of $9.8 million in the first and a loss of $6.3 million in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year.

Stock Price Performance: During December 8, 2011 to February 7, 2012, the stock price had risen 94 cents (31.6%) from $2.97 to $3.91. The stock price saw one of its best stretches over the last year between January 13, 2012 and January 20, 2012 when shares rose for five-straight days, rising 11.7% (+35 cents) over that span. It saw one of its worst periods between November 15, 2011 and November 25, 2011 when shares fell for eight-straight days, falling 22% (-71 cents) over that span.
