While reading Fast Company on the airplane, I found an ingenious artistic visualization of demographics by Mathieu Lehanneur. The containers “capture demographic data in enameled ceramic, with 99-year-olds at the top and newborns at the bottom.” If you are perplexed about how different economies will be affected by age in the coming years, these urns sure beat another pie chart:

  • The graphic showing the age demographics of various countries by layering is cool. But it would also be cool to see different countries compared where the layers are based on real numbers of people rather than percentages, so one could see the comparative impact of the various countries.
