Power Play: 7 Scorching New Rides From the 2014 NY Auto Show
At an auto spectacle where a Ford Mustang hangs suspended from from a wall in the central gallery, you know an exhibit of motor muscle is in store. The 2014 New York International Auto Show didn’t disappoint on that front. Bill Ford brought along a limited edition model of the new 2015 ‘Stang on the first day of press previews, while Saleen’s showcase in the southern end of the Javits Center displayed the most supercharged versions of Detroit muscle legends around.
Yet the newly minted Fiat Chrysler Automobiles may have stolen the show with a press conference that came off an awful lot like a heavy metal concert. The new wave of power coming from the Dodge brand was matched by premium and supercar manufacturers hailing from England to the Far East. Here are seven scorching debuts from the 2014 New York Auto Show.
1. 2015 Infiniti Q70L
The new Infiniti Q70L was unveiled at an April 17 press conference in New York. Nissan’s premium brand continued the excellent work it did with the Q50 and raised the stakes in this Q70. Inside this eye-catching package are two engines of varying power. The base model offers 320 horsepower on 270 pound-feet of torque, while the “driver’s hybrid” model delivers a total 360 horsepower with electric and gas power combined.
Packing the most juice is a 32-valve V8 that delivers 416 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque in the long-wheelbase model. If premium cars hit their marks best when combining power and elegance, Infiniti scored big with the new lineup of Q70 models.
